April 2008 Newsletter
The meeting was held Thursday, April 10, 2008 at Pappy Ganders, Merrill, OR
In attendance were President, Skip Barron; VP/Treasurer, Tutsy Sterling; Secretary, Judith Foster; Lois Barron & Donna Reisinger, Board of Directors Meeting was called to order at 6:13p.m by Pres. Skip Barron
Secretary’s report Secretary Diane Tooker was absent, Minutes of previous meeting not available for reading. Treasurers Report Current balance is $2,692.71 which includes donations received from Martin's Market, Floyd Boyd & Nutrena. Old Business No old business pending Open Shows We have received the contract from Klamath Equestrian Center. As a reminder the Open Show dates are May 24th, June 28th & August 30th. We are looking for anyone will horse show knowledge that is local to judge the shows. If you know anyone that would be qualified enough please contact Lois Barron Show Manager. We can also use some volunteers to help out at the show. We received a $100 gift certificate from Frontier Trailers & it was voted on at the meeting to use it as one of the prizes for our August Futurities. There will be Open Futurities held at the August Open Show. The catagories so far include Weanling Halter, Yearling Halter, 2 & under Lunge Line & 4 & under Western Pleasure. If you would also like to see a English Pleasure Futurity please let Lois or Tutsy know, if there is enough interest in it we will add it to the schedule. Breed Show We have received our final judges contract back so we are set for out judges. Diamond West Concessions has contacted us & is interested in running our concession stand. Nancy Savage has volunteered to set up a picture taking area & do the photographs for the show.
New Business We have received 2 new members Scottie Stier & Nancy Savage We received the bill for our domain name, motion made, seconded & carried to pay $95 for 5yrs. We need class sponsors for both the breed show & the Open shows. The club has some trophies donated by Diane Tooker & it was decided to put name plates on them to give as awards. Red Lion Inn is going to block 30 rooms for us this year since they didn't reserve enough for our breed show last year. Skip is looking into them possibly donating the judges rooms agian too. We need volunteers to help out at all the shows. If interested please contact Lois or Tutsy. Judith suggested having a horse apple bingo at the open shows. We all liked the idea & will be looking for a volunteer horse, it was suggested to use a mini. Malin is having a 4th of July Parade & all our SOAP members are incouraged to be in it. Motion made, seconded & carried to adjourn at 7:35p.m. Next meeting will be held May 8th, 6pm at Pappy Ganders.
